It’s a crazy effective way that influences every business (for better or worse), including your healthcare practice … and it’s not going away any time soon.

In other words … REVIEWS MATTER!!!

They can positively or negatively effect the know, like, and trust factors with your brand. So let’s make sure you have awesome positive reviews to help grow your practice.  

How do we do that?  

Keep reading for some surefire tips that can help …

ASK!

Let’s start with the most obvious and effective way to get great reviews: ask someone that you have an actual relationship with. A long time patient or a patient you recently helped. Simply ask and many times you’ll have a new positive review before the end of the day!

Email Ask!

Just ask … through email! This request can be part of your signature on every email or as a specific email campaign. For best results, try segmenting your list and target only high-value patients. Or, even better, personally email specific patients asking for a review.

Staff Ask!

Your staff is an extension of you and, often times, have the most direct interaction and relationships with your patients. So it makes sense for them to ask for more reviews on your behalf.

Invoice Ask!

If you don’t want your staff to be asking for reviews, a more subtle way to ask is to print your request at the bottom of your invoice, “Leave a Review on {Insert Website} when you get a chance!" Many patients keep their invoices for their medical records, so this is a nice gentle reminder.

Call-To-Action Ask!

There are many social media plugins and widgets that display customer reviews directly on your website, so it makes sense to put a Call-To-Action next to those reviews.

For example, Facebook Reviews Widget for WordPress allows for Facebook reviews to feed into your site. This would be another subtle and effective way to get more great reviews.

Pro-Tips

Pro-Tip: Be Specific Where to Review

When asking for a review, be specific which platform you would like your patient to leave a review on. Facebook? Google? Yelp? Provide a link too!

Additionally, you can provide specific instructions if applicable. For example, please write a review on how our services helped you. Or please mention a specific employee.

Make it as easy as possible for your patient to help you.

Pro-Tip: Promote Existing Reviews

Promoting and featuring your reviews on your website; Facebook page; emails … is great for bolstering your know, like, and trust factors. It also incentivizes, and provides social pressure, for other patients to provide reviews.

My prosthetist and chiropractor both had pictures with thank you massages displayed throughout their office. After I finished my first Ironman 70.3 with their help and support, guess what I showed up to with at each office?

Pro-Tip: Don’t Delete Negative Reviews

Just don’t do it.

The power in reviews is trusting the transparency of the reviews.

The way you handle negative feedback will make the difference between an unhappy patient telling everybody about his horrible experience or an unhappy patient becoming a lifelong fan.

Apologize and take ownership of the negative review, then offer to resolve the issue.

Negative reviews can actually be helpful. Personally, a negative review provides more credibility to the many positive reviews in my book.

Facebook is all about engaging with your followers and responding to patient reviews will – you guessed it – get you more patient reviews! It makes each patient feel valued for taking the time to write you a great review. Then you can use the Facebook Reviews Widget for WordPress to add all these great reviews to your website.

All the best Facebook groups have moderators that respond to every query and keep the engagement high.

Social-Tip Google: Verify You’re Google My Business Listing 

Do this now!

Verifying your Google My Business Listing will 1) Allow your reviews to pop up in map searches; and 2) Allow you to respond to your reviews (like in Facebook).

Social-Tip Google: Rank Positive Reviews as “Helpful”

This will boost your positive reviews by prioritizing them to be seen first; it will show that others are reading the reviews; and encourage others to participate.

Getting more reviews takes some time and energy, but it's definitely a strategy that pays off.  To start, pick the platform where your patients are hanging out and work on that platform - it's best to master one rather than dabbling in a few.

Next, make sure everything is optimized to make it easier for patients and prospective patients to find or contact you.
